Chief Operating Officer/Director and Principal
Scott Arthur is the operational driving force of AFG Corp and is director of all group entities. Scott’s hands on involvement means he has ultimate knowledge on all aspects of each business within the AFG Corp group of entities.
Taking over the financial control and directorship of all the family agricultural businesses at the age of 26, over the years Scott has steered AFG Corp from a family business to a corporate group structure where strategy, process, systems and governance disciplines are applied.
A key strategic initiative was the decision to diversify AFG Corp’s interests by establishing non rural enterprises and in doing so, de-risking against fluctuations of agriculture, and improving the cash flow profile of the business. In 2007 AFG Corp commenced a residential construction business which, in 2010, merged with another construction business in Brisbane.
Being one of six shareholders and a director of the enlarged group, Scott’ s board role in the business was strategy and his operational role was implementation of strategy and ensuring a constant flow of new business construction contracts. By 2016 the business had become the largest residential house builder in Queensland and in the top 10 residential house builders in Australia, with offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
The natural progression of the business was to add a development arm to the group which has also become one of the larger townhouse developers in Queensland. Today the business builds over 1,000 homes per year and supplies up to 300 townhouse units to the market per year. Turning over $400m per annum with a healthy EBIT the business is one of the success stories of the construction industry.
In 2016 Scott/AFG Corp sold out of the construction entity to concentrate on its own residential development business and other initiatives.
